As a piece of puppet theatre I was keen for the puppeteer to remain silent on stage, focusing on the manipulation of the puppets. This required an extensive audio visual display projected onto a backdrop screen to drive the pace of the show and provide essential narration and context. I worked with Director and Film Maker Tom Walsh in the creation of this material.
The Dog Show presenter, performed by Suzy Gunn, was filmed during the devising process and edited to lead the narrative of the piece. In future developments it is expected that this element will either be a live performer or occur live through an obvious live video feed.
The narrative was interjected constantly by adverts and promotional material created bespoke for the piece with the aim of highlighting our consumerist culture and some the the dark issues underlying the piece.
